When Dr. Amy Pruszenski opened Harbor Eyecare Center in 1998, little could she know what her small Portsmouth practice would eventually become: a beacon of New England family optometry with an independent spirit and decades of combined experience behind it. Today, the practice is co-owned by Pruszenski and Dr. Sarah Hudson, who, along with Dr. James Belanger, have succeeded in fostering an environment where all manner of patient issues are tackled, in a way that is equal parts friendly and professional. From binocular vision problems in children or post head injury to macular degeneration, glaucoma or eye infections – there’s scarce a terrain that the Harbor Eyecare team hasn’t covered.
Of course, Harbor Eyecare offers all the latest in high tech vision products: High index lenses, progressive lenses, anti-glare lenses, Transitions® lenses, a wide range of fashion eyewear and brand name sunglasses, as well as all manner of contact lenses.
Whether you’re an infant coming in for her first checkup, or a great grandfather fresh off a 100th birthday, the Harbor Eyecare team has the resources, knowledge, and experience to help guide you through the optometric process. Indeed, the honors and accolades are almost too many to count: Dr. James Belanger was awarded a fellowship with the American Academy of Optometry, and is slated to serve as President of the New Hampshire Optometric Association in 2015; Dr. Hudson served as President of the NHOA in 2010; while Dr. Pruszenski was awarded the NHOA Optometrist of the Year award in 2005.
Harbor Eyecare is looking to set the industry standard for what a green-focused practice can be. Ever since they undertook a comprehensive renovation in 2011, the team has begun spearheading some impressive sustainability initiatives, from a comprehensive recycling program to sourcing recycled or used office materials. More exciting still, Harbor Eyecare will soon be introducing a line of frames made from recycled materials!
