Since 2002, Mountain View Grand Resort & Spa has achieved AAA Four Diamond status in Lodging. In 2008, the resort earned AAA Four Diamond status in Dining as well as Lodging, making it the first establishment in New Hampshire to ever do so. The fundamental hallmarks of a AAA Four Diamond resort include an extensive array of amenities combined with a high degree of hospitality, service, and attention to detail.

EPA GREEN POWER PURCHASER

Mountain View Grand Resort & Spa has been honored as a 100 percent EPA Green Power Purchaser from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. Mountain View Grand is the only hotel or resort and one of only a handful of companies in NH on the list of businesses that purchase green power for all of their electricity use.

GREEN BUSINESS BUREAU PLATINUM AWARD

For two years in a row, Mountain View Grand has been given the highest award—platinum certification status—from the Green Business Bureau's green certification program. The GBB gives national, third-party green business certifications to businesses that work to reach sustainability, save money and improve the environment.

ENVIRONMENTAL GOALS AND ACHIEVEMENTS

The staff at Mountain View Grand are always looking for ways to be more eco-friendly, but are happy to share the current sustainability practices that have garnered the recognition they have received. The three most significant practices include energy and material consumption as well as wind energy supplemented by New Mix Wind Green-e Energy Certified Renewable Energy Certificates.

To Reduce Energy and Material Consumption, Mountain View Grand Uses:

  • An Integrated Recycling Program for Managing Cardboard, Aluminum, Plastic, Vegetable Oil, and Organic Waste

  • A Towel and Linen Reuse Program

  • A New Composting System in the Resort's Herb and Vegetable Garden

  • Energy-Saving Lighting and Greenfiber Insulation to Retain Heat

AHEAD OF THE CURVE WITH WIND ENERGY

100% of Mountain View Grand Resort and Spa's electricity use is provided through renewable wind energy. Between the on-site 121-foot wind turbine and purchasing NewMix Wind Green-e Energy Certified Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs) all of the resort's power comes from wind. It is exciting to note that this offsets the resort's carbon footprint by about 2,500,000 pounds a year, which equals:

  • The Carbon Emissions it Takes to Provide Energy to 100 Homes Per Year

  • Greenhouse Gas Annual Emissions of 230 Passenger Vehicles

  • The Carbon That Is Annually Sequestered by 250 Acres of Pine or Fir Forests

CLEAN THE WORLD

Clean the World Foundation, Inc. was founded in February 2009. Their Hospitality Recycling Partner Program collects and recycles soap and shampoo products discarded by the hospitality industry. Through the distribution of these and other donated hygiene products to impoverished countries, Clean the World works to prevent the millions of deaths caused by hygiene-related illnesses every day. The Mountain View Grand is proud to work with this organization through their recycling program. For more information, visit their website.
