When most people think about sustainability, insurance is not the first thing that comes to mind. Larry Russell is not like most people. For Russell, a financial representative at Northwestern Mutual, insurance and finance are at the center of sustainability. Russell works with his clients to ensure they have well thought out objectives, clear action steps, and a realistic timetable to achieve their financial goals, while protecting the people and things they care about most.

The Massachusetts native prides himself on helping a diverse selection of families, businesses and individuals reach their fiscal goals and plan for the long term while remaining both environmentally and financially sustainable. Part of that comes from Russell’s desire to provide people with a sense of security.

Russell is proud to be a part of a company that considers people and sustainability. Northwestern has been around since 1870.

What do you like most about your job?

Larry Russell (LR): I like knowing that I add value to my clients’ situation. The kind of work that I do revolves around risk management, which concerns health, life, disability and extended care insurance. Additionally, I help people with savings and wealth creations using the tax efficiencies of the government such 401K, SEPS, Roths and IRA’s to create short and long term plans that are seamless. If they pass away or become disabled in the short term, which could be as long as 25 years, their family situation does not have to change. If they live longer than that, I help them use that money for retirement. I help people when it comes to planning for their futures no matter the circumstance.
