News : Community radio stations find niche on Seacoast

In a relatively small city like Portsmouth, two community radio stations might seem like one too many.

Not so, said Rob Connelly, director of WXGR 101.5 FM. Connelly, who launched the world music-focused station in 2004, thinks both WXGR and Portsmouth Community Radio 106.1 FM have succeeded because of two different, though mutually beneficial, formulas.

"So far, I think everyone is happy with how it turned out," Connelly said. "There's been a perfect symbiosis, because while we're more like a commercial radio station, at least as far as format, WCSA definitely takes up more of a community radio mantle."... read the full story in the Herald by clicking here!
