When John and Mel Ozberak first decided to leave the hospitality industry and buy a small hardware store in Portsmouth, NH, they knew two things: that they wanted to maintain their years-honed sense of customer service, and that they were determined to forge a strong niche with an overarching commitment to local commerce and community.

So far, so good.

The Ozberaks have owned the Seacoast Ace Hardware – located on Heritage Avenue off of Route 1 – since 2006. While neither boasted retail experience, John Ozberak knew that, more important than expertise, forging lasting relationships with customers would be paramount to his young business’ success.
