News : First Geothermal Condos Hit Portsmouth

Developer Steve Kelm has gone geothermal and he may never go back.

Along with a unique view out onto North Mill Pond, the upscale condominiums being built at 162 Mill Pond Way will have another feature unlike any condominium project in the city. The newly installed geothermal system will use the Earth's energy storage capabilities to heat and cool four units, which are 90 percent completed.

The same technology is also intended for the redevelopment of Kline's Furniture — another one of Kelm's project, which will include both residential and commercial space on Islington Street. That project, slated to break ground in November, is expected to be a LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certified building.  Read the entire story here!
