 Well, the City of Portsmouth has passed a green milestone. It has issued the first building permit for a wind turbine — and the turbine is now blowin' in the wind from atop the Ricci Lumber building on Bartlett Street.

Owner Ed Hayes said his company has been working hard to become more environmentally friendly. Its trucks use biodiesel, employees are encouraged to carpool. Perhaps most importantly, it is expected to soon be certified under the Forestry Stewardship Council, so that it is able to sell products manufactured and harvested under strict guidelines.  Read full story here!
