Job Listing: Public Relations / Writing Internship -- Green Alliance (11/28/11)
JOB DESCRIPTION: Telling the Story of Sustainability -- the Metrics and Transparency of Sustainability in Commerce: The Green Alliance generates 3 tools for every green business that joins our union. A 50 question sustainability Evaluation, allows us to get an extensive picture of that business and its sustainability efforts in both product and practice. A weighted Report Card allows us to generate an overall sustainability score and ranking as well as a score in specific areas, (energy use, waste, community involvement, etc.). But what really makes the Green Alliance stand out is the way we tell each story. Each Business Partner receives a publish-ready Green Story that tells the unique narrative of that green company. The GAs Green Stories are more than just press releases; in fact most of them are published in full in the local papers. If you are interested in the documentation of sustainable business and the "story-telling" of why it is important, come flex your writing muscles with us. Write hard news stories about local sustainable business leaders. This is a hands on internship where you will be actively working on environmental stories every hour of your internship! No busy work...100% writing. If you have interest in green issues and like to write...this is the internship for you. We provide the contacts and story ideas as well as full editing help -- you do the interviews and write the stories. Immediate publication in the widely popular Green Alliance blog and publication in the Fiddlehead Loop and local papers. Get real writing experience with the Green Alliance. The Green Alliance Director has 6 years of experience as a journalist with NBC and AP covering stories in NYC and Moscow, Russia.
JOB SKILLS: Internship requirements: minimum of one day a week. Must have: computer/laptop (to work on at GA office and at home). The intern should have a good grasp of writing and an interest in environmental issues, business experience and/or interest is also a plus.
