Nov 14 - Court Jesters are Coming to Kittery

The Court Jesters are known around the globe as the world's most entertaining Comedy Basketball team. They will dazzle the audience with their amazing skills and antics while providing countless laughs and excitement to young and old alike. Nov 15 - Acorn School Fall Fundraiser

Come out and support the Acorn School with a night of food, drink, and fun as Acorn School hosts its annual fall fundraiser event. Silent and live auctions will also take place and feature exciting prizes for the whole family. Nov 17 - City Council Meeting: Portsmouth Committee on Sustainable Practices

Joshua Denton, advocate and member of the Portsmouth Committee on Sustainable Practices, will be giving a presentation at the Portsmouth City Council Meeting Monday, November 17 at 7:00 p.m. The presentation will include Property-Assessed Clean Energy (PACE) financing to assist property owners with energy efficiency and renewable energy investments and guidelines allowing solar panel to be visible in the Historic District. These ideas, along with others such as the Pay As You Throw (PAYT), a trash collection initiative will be discussed at the meeting. After the ten minute presentation, there will be a Q&A portion for audience members to ask any questions that they have. Show your support for the City of Portsmouth becoming more energy efficient and sustainable by attending this City Council Meeting! Nov 19 - Social Venture Innovation Challenge Submission Deadline

Submit your solution to a social problem to the Social Venture Innovation Challenge site on November 19 to remain a part of the competition! The Social Venture Innovation Challenge is designed to be an “innovation accelerator” and to encourage participants to develop original, innovative proposals (versus detailed business plans) in the form of a three-minute video and two-page paper. Proposals may describe the development of a new enterprise or a new entrepreneurial initiative for an established social business. The Gundalow Company has officially ended their season sailing on the PISCATAQUA by down-rigging for the winter months ahead. To celebrate an amazingly successful run, The Gundalow Company will be holding a small thank you event for the support that they received. Every ticket purchased this season allowed for the 6,000 passengers, on 390 different sails, and 2,000 students to come aboard! This event is to celebrate 2014 and to thank all of those who contributed to making their season so successful! The event will serve beverages and hors d'oeuvres. Nov 24 - Public Hearing to be Held to Reduce Protected Waters in New England

Sheraton Harborside, 250 Market St, Portsmouth

The New England Fishery Management Council (NEFMC) will be conducting public hearings on Draft Omnibus Habitat Amendment 2 including the Draft Environmental Impact Statement (DEIS). This amendment will address habitat requirements for the NEFMC Fishery Management Plans, which have been proposed to greatly reduce the area of protected waters off the coast of New England. This area provides a habitat for a variety of marine species that will be displaced if the waters are opened up to bottom trawling and dredging. If the range of fishing vessels is expanded, up to 70 percent of the waters that are currently closed could be opened to destructive fishing practices. 

The public hearings are being held throughout New Enlgand in the upcoming months, but will only be in Portsmouth on Monday, November 24th. Stop by the Sheraton Harborside at 250 Market Street at 6:00 p.m. and let your voice be heard!
