Greenland has redesigned their farmer's market this summer to create a fun filled atmosphere with up to 30 different vendors!  There will be a variety of locally grown foods available in addition to ready to eat food with local ingredients.  Enjoy live music and chances to win $25 gift certificates by liking the Greenland Farmer's Market Facebook page and entering photos.  This year the Greenland Farmer's market is accepting SNAP/EBT and debit cards.  SNAP, the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, provides low-income households with access to fresh local food.  With assistance from Seacoast Eat Local the farmer's market now has SNAP tokens for low-income families which can be purchased and used like cash at the market. When SNAP tokens are bought the amount that they are worth will be matched for up to ten dollars giving the individual or family additional locally grown food. Come stop by the Greenland farmer's market and find anything from fresh produce to local beer and wine!

Join the Gundalow Company for a unique evening sail aboard the Gundalow with live penhallow, traditional irish intrumental music. Jul 08 - Blue Ocean Society Annual Cruise fundraiser

M/V Thomas Laighton cruise ship

Throw on some tropical attire and come join the Blue Ocean Society for their 9th annual Tropical Sunset Cruise. Board the M/V Thomas Laighton at 6:20 p.m. and set sail at 6:55 p.m.. Enjoy a night on the waters of the Piscataqua River with tropical music provided by Ron Reid at Sound Spectrum DJ Services, complimentary appetizers, and a cash bar. There will be a silent auction and a raffle as well. All proceeds go towards marine conservation. So grab your flip flops and tropical shirt and come have a great time for a great cause!

It's time for our annual Isles of Shoals Steamship party cruise, this year featuring our partners NHPTV! Join us Thursday, July 10th as we sail down the Piscataqua with drinks, music, and all your GA friends. Admission is free with your Green Alliance Card, but new members can buy a membership in advance for only $25 and receive a ticket to the party in the process. The steamship will be on the water until 9:30, and will stay open dockside until 10.

Joing the Isles of Shoals Steamship Company for an all day adventure on Star Island. This cruise includes a tour of the Isles of Shoals and Portsmouth Harbor, a walking tour of Star Island, and spend the rest of the day on Star Island! Come join The Land Trust and Portsmouth Kayak Adventures for an informative day on the water. The Land Trust and Portsmouth Kayak Adventures are offering a kayak trip through the beautiful Back Channel Islands in New Castle. On the trip you can learn from local experts about the costal ecology and the history of the islands. You can either bring your own kayak or rent one from PKA for a discounted rate. ($35 for a single or $49 for a tandem) There is also a $5 put-in fee for all boats.

Jul 17 - Seacoast Science Center presents Music-by-the-Sea Concert Series

The premire U2 tribute band, Joshua Tree takes the stage at the Seacoast Science Center.  Joshua Tree awes the crowd with their remarkable reproduction of the world's most popular rock band.  Located on the rocky shore of Odiorne Point State Park in Rye, you cannot beat the Seacoast Science Center's ocean view and relaxed atmoshphere .  In addition, you'll feel great knowing that the proceeds from the event support the non-profit's Marine Mammal Rescue and ocean education efforts.  Concerts are held under a festive tent on the lawn of the Center, rain or shine.  Bring a beach blanket or chair, pack a picnic, or purchase freshly grilled dinner and beverage on site.  Concert-goers can enjoy the Center and its exhibits, free with concert admission. Jul 23 - Isles of Shoals Steamship Co. Captain John Smith 400th Anniversary Cruise

Come join the Isles of Shoals Steamship Company to celebrate the 400th Anniversary of Captain John Smith’s charting of New England and the Isles of Shoals! This all day adventure voyages to Star Island for a day full of events and pre-colonial history. These special cruise tickets include lunch at the Oceanic Hotel, boat transportation, and access to a wide range of events! Island events include food demonstrations, hand-tint maps, learn about recent archeological digs, explore the typical life of sailors and fishermen, take part in a Gosport Town Meeting reenactment, and walk through a hand-made wigwam.

Jul 26 - Green Alliance and Ultra Geothermal Benefit Yard Sale

In support of Travis Aho's battle with Leukemia, the Green Alliance is working with Ultra Geothermal to put on a yard sale.  Travis Aho, brother of Ultra Geothermal owner Melissa, has been battling Leukemia since December 2013 and is currently struggling with the financial burden of the disease.  In order to help relieve his stress Melissa decided to organize a yard sale for his benefit with the help of the Green Alliance and our 115 business partners. With the support of all these local businesses we hope this yard sale will be full of donations to benefit his cause.  Some proceeds will also support the Green Alliance non-profit fund in efforts to keep our communities green!  In addition to the yard sale there will be a bake-sale full of delicious treats to enjoy while shopping around.  The proceeds from the bake-sale will benefit the NH food bank.  

If you need to get rid of anything lying around the house, this is the perfect opportunity to donate! Your trash may be someone elses treasure.  Any yard sale appropriate donations or baked goods are greatly appreciated and they can be dropped off at Ultra Geothermal.  You can also call to arrange for someone to pick up your donations. Jul 27 - Portsmouth Short Film Night

Film Unbound presents an evening of short films and Q&As with their makers at West End Studio Theatre.  In the line-up this time are a mix of fiction and nonfiction shorts by filmmakers from New Hampshire, across the country, and around the globe.  Admission is free, but donations are accepted on their website to help continue the production of Portsmouth Short Film Night.  This night is all about supporting independent film makers, and getting a chance to see something a little different!  The evening will last roughly 100 minutes, and families should note that adult themes are explored throughout some of the films that may be inappropriate for young audiances. Jul 28 - Citizen Hearing to Support the EPA's Clean Power Plan

Join Matt Cahillane (Division of Public Health Services, NH Health & Human Services), Joe Fontaine (NH Department of Environmental Services), Dr. Kathleen Bush (Epidemiologist, Plymouth State University), and Burr Tupper (Trout Unlimited) for an citizen hearing event. The EPA proposal to limit carbon pollution from power plants is under attack and in need of your support. The Clean Power Plan will prevent up to 150,000 asthma attacks and 6,600 premature deaths annually by 2030. Join the GA at the Concord Public Library on July 28 and defend the Clean Power Plan.

Greenland has redesigned their farmer's market this summer to create a fun filled atmosphere with up to 30 different vendors!  There will be a variety of locally grown foods available in addition to ready to eat food with local ingredients.  Enjoy live music and chances to win $25 gift certificates by liking the Greenland Farmer's Market Facebook page and entering photos.  This year the Greenland Farmer's market is accepting SNAP/EBT and debit cards.  SNAP, the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, provides low-income households with access to fresh local food.  With assistance from Seacoast Eat Local the farmer's market now has SNAP tokens for low-income families which can be purchased and used like cash at the market. When SNAP tokens are bought the amount that they are worth will be matched for up to ten dollars giving the individual or family additional locally grown food. Come stop by the Greenland farmer's market and find anything from fresh produce to local beer and wine!
