Green Story

ZESstudio was created in February 2009 as an all-encompassing design studio set up to provide a unified image for their clients -- from letter head to office space. Launched by Keene State and UMass grad Zach Smith after years working for local architecture firms, ZES offers services ranging from comprehensive design of a space to a company's new logos and graphics. Because of what Smith calls an "inner-office code of ethics", ZES also tries to achieve the most green and sustainable level of service possible in every facet of their business, always keeping themselves at the head of the green-tech curve.

The crew prides themselves on attending many workshops and seminars focused on the latest green technologies in the building industry, as required by the AIA (American Institute of Architects) and the USGBC (United States Green Building Council). ZES offers LEED consulting services as well as the experience necessary to move a LEED project from design to completion. Always looking for the greenest sollution for a client's budget, Smith and Company pride themselves on a green code of ethics for all their projects.

On site, all of the computers are EnergyStar-certified. ZES uses 100% post-consumer recylced paper when printing in house, and they're known for donating graphic design services to local small businesses and non-profits including the Stone Church and Newmarket Farmers' Market. The office is heated with Biofuel, and Smith has instituted a "Zero Paper" policy, meaning all of his documents are sent digitally in PDF form -- everything from architectural plans to coordinating individual contracts.

ZESstudio is now working to align itself with more like-minded people in the greater Seacoast community, and looks forward to fostering relationships to help strengthen green initatives -- be they for wedding invitations or entire buildings.
