After ten years managing class A corporate office buildings, in 2004 Chris Culcasi began focusing his aspirations on improving homes – specifically the different floor and carpet cleaning products and services traditionally offered. Culcasi spent three years working exclusively in Massachusetts before coming north to New Hampshire in 2007. Along with a change in scenery, Culcasi wanted to completely refocus his business to include and feature gentler, greener chemicals and equipment. Today he owns Premium Brands, an amalgamation of three separate services which each tell their own unique green story, while sharing a few crucial things in common: each one is designed to drastically improve your home's indoor air quality, utilizing products and chemicals that are safe, non-toxic, and in many cases biodegradable.

Culcasi soon started his first business, which consisted of two Oxi-Fresh carpet cleaning franchises – one in New Hampshire, and one in Massachusetts. What sets Oxi-Fresh apart from traditional carpet cleaning companies is, in short, everything. Instead of driving a big van and hauling equipment that often requires more than 50 gallons of water to steam your carpet, Culcasi instead uses only 2 gallons of his “encapsulation” product, which crystallizes the dirt and makes it far easier to remove. Not only is the product non-toxic and biodegradable – it costs just the same as a standard carpet clean, without the tremendous waste of energy and water.

After numerous requests, Culcasi expanded his services to include the state-of-the-art Bona system of wood re-finishing. After lightly abrading and deep-cleaning the floor, the exposed wood is finished with a low-VOC, water-based urethane which is a non-yellowing, cleaner, longer-lasting, and quicker-drying alternative to its chemically-charged competitors. Culcasi also offers Bona’s dust containment system, which, unlike most systems, leaves virtually no dust or particles, making it cleaner, greener, and improving indoor air quality.

In addition, Premium Brands touts Granite Shield, a cutting-edge counter top sealant that helps prevent the growth of germs and bacteria while maintaining the counter's color and finish. The Granite Shield process cleans and lifts foreign particulate and contaminates from the pores of the stone leaving it cleaner, smoother, shinier, and 100% maintenance free for life.

Culcasi is also working on an allergy-relief system to include in his carpet care services. The product changes the makeup of many common household allergens, so you and your family never have to worry about sickness or sneezing fits -- it could even be added to your normal laundry cycle and applied to all household linens.

While the range of services offered by Premium brands may vary, a few things unite them all: they all improve indoor air quality; they all require far less energy and chemicals than traditional methods; and they are all meant to last.
