Lots of stores in many different industries and sectors can tout green products. But rarely do you come across a company where literally everything on the shelves fits that description. Greenovations is just that business.

Located in Portsmouth's Bowl-O-Rama Plaza, Greenovations – which opened its doors in May 2010 – and its owner, Christopher Ring, are as green as it gets. A catch all building and remodeling outfit, Greenovations offers everything from paint to insulation, floors to countertops, cabinets to wood stoves, paints and coatings to solar tubes, attic fans, plywood and tiles. The best part? According to Ring, “every single one of Greenovation’s products are manufactured at the highest standards of sustainability.”

A Long Island native who spent the last five years between Columbia and Austria, Ring first got the “green itch” when in 2003 he and a friend built a home in the Adirondack Mountains which became certified as the second most efficient home in the state of New York. After completing a few more similar projects, Ring decided that the best way to help advance the cause of green building was to provide a catch-all source for everything a truly green home would ever need.

So far, Ring has done just that. While the list of green products offered at Greenovations is as long as it is impressive, each of them tells their own uniquely green story. Some of Ring’s personal favorites include: countertops made of 100% recycled, FSC-certified paper; Rais woodstoves from Denmark – widely considered the most efficient of their kind on the planet with a burn efficiency of up to 90%; completely recycled glass tiles manufactured using half the energy of standard tiles; butcher blocks made from wood salvaged from lakes and rivers in Maine (one of which Ring claims was made from a sapling dating to the days of Christopher Columbus); and insulation made from 100% percent recycled denim and other cotton.
