Green Story

Founded in 1993 by Tim Coughlin, the law firm Coughlin, Rainboth, Murphy & Lown has since grown to include three more partners, all the while servicing the greater Seacoast area in all manner of civil litigation. In 2000, shortly after rounding out their staff, the firm moved into their 1860s-era Middle Street mansion, where their offices still reside.

With extensive experience in business litigation, personal injury, worker’s compensation, insurance, family law, and myriad other legal areas, the firm prides itself on a reputation of responsibility and commitment, both to their clients as well as the Seacoast community at large. Having served non-profit boards including Cross Roads House, Prescott Park Arts Festival, the Birchtree Center, NH Historical Society, Portsmouth City Council, and many others, the team at CRML pride themselves on engaging with and representing the interests and unique heritage of their community. The firm even purchases air conditioners for low income elderly citizens every year!

In addition to their extensive community involvement, the team at CRML have started the process of rendering their office – and their business – more sustainable. On top of an extensive recycling program, the team recently installed new, more efficient insulation in their near 150-year-old building. Additionally, Bradley Lown, a Portsmouth resident – bikes to work as much as three times a week, and even more when business doesn’t draw him outside the city limits.
