Chinburg Properties accomplishments were recognized in Washington, D.C. on April 13, 2016, with Karen Breen and Lori Bachand of Chinburg Properties accepting the award from Jacob Moss, Acting Deputy Director for the Climate Protection Partnerships Division.

Chinburg Properties, an ENERGY STAR partner since 2004, was honored for:
New Home Development and Construction. The company is one of only 5 builders nationally to be recognized in this category.

“Chinburg Properties truly values our partnership with ENERGY STAR,” said Jennifer Chinburg. “It’s exciting to see the impact we’ve made through our 100% commitment to build our homes to Energy Star standards since 2012, and we remain committed to continuing our work to help reduce greenhouse gas emissions and protect the environment through innovative and efficient building practices. Congratulations to the two other New Hampshire companies, Eversource Energy and GDS Associates, for their EPA recognition as well.”

Since its inception in 1992, ENERGY STAR and its partners have helped prevent a total of more than 2.4 billion metric tons of greenhouse gas emissions. In 2014 alone, ENERGY STAR and its partners provided more than $11 billion in societal benefits due to reducing damages from climate change.

“Demonstrating a strong commitment to building energy-efficient homes, Chinburg Properties has reaffirmed its reputation as a company that saves the American homebuyer energy and money,” said EPA Administrator Gina McCarthy. “This award recognizes Chinburg Properties as a leader in building ENERGY STAR certified homes while reducing our nation’s greenhouse gas emissions that contribute to climate change.”

ENERGY STAR certified homes use substantially less energy for heating, cooling, and water heating; in fact, homeowners who buy ENERGY STAR certified homes can expect up to 30 percent less energy costs than a typical new home. Americans living in ENERGY STAR certified homes have saved $4.7 billion on their energy bills since 1995, while more than 1.6 million American families now live in ENERGY STAR certified homes.

ENERGY STAR has 16,000 partners working to protect the environment through greater energy efficiency, including manufacturers, retailers, public schools, hospitals, real estate companies, and home builders.
