You are also invited to The Green Families Club Celebration, held directly prior to the social, also on Sunday, August 23 but from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The Market is held regularly at 10 Shapleigh Rd. (Post Office Square) in Kittery; the event is free and all are welcome to attend. This celebration is a family friendly, community focused day of fun featuring traditional farmers market vendors and family friendly vendors and activities. The event is focused on bringing together the local community, especially families, as well as the regular market crowd with live music, face painting, a scavenger hunt, games, cake, and prizes for the kids.

The Green Families Club (GFC) was created with the goal to inspire younger generations to care about sustainability and value the environment. Its formation was a natural response of research and trends found by the Green Alliance about members.

Green Families merges the relationship between businesses and an active socially engaged local community with fun, educational events geared specifically toward families, and great discounts at local businesses. Its works to educate families and budget concerns, parents can still afford to make green-minded decisions that ensure the health and safety of both their family and the environment.

The Kittery Community Market aims to provide healthy, fresh foods, locally prepared foods, and work from local artisans to residents of Kittery and the surrounding area. The Green Alliance is proud to be a market sponsor and to be working with the Kittery Community Market throughout the season. The Green Alliance will be vending at many of the weekly markets during the summer and until the end of the market on October 4. To Sarah Brown and the Green Alliance staff it is important to partner with local organizations as much as possible and to spread awareness about the benefits of shopping local.
