Fitness is an essential part of a healthy lifestyle, along with proper nutrition. But it also provides an outlet to improve mental health functions. On May 9, Integrated Fitness of Dover will host the first annual Day of Fitness at their facility in Dover, New Hampshire. The event is free, but donations for the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention are accepted.

“I have been personally looking for ways to make a difference for people who have been affected by suicide,” said Integrated Fitness owner, Jon Arnold.
“My 23-year old sister took her own life about 2 years ago. It was a horrific ordeal that our family went through. We don’t want that to affect anyone else if we could possibly help it.”

At Integrated Fitness Arnold's certified trainers help people of any level incorporate fitness into their daily lives and to meet their individual health goals.

There will be numerous events at the Day of Fitness to inspire people achieve their personal goals, including dead-lift, plank and push-up competitions and a one-mile run. Winners of each category will win an award for their performance.

The day also includes speakers from the American Foundation of Suicide Prevention.

The main mission of Integrated Fitness is to provide a comfortable atmosphere to help individuals and groups achieve their fitness goals in an atmosphere that is not intimidating.

Arnold is enthusiastic when he speaks about his team of trainers and takes pride in the different classes they offer to their clients. Integrated Fitness' diverse range in programs help clients lose weight and lead a more sustainable lifestyle based on the decision they make, whether that's through nutrition or exercise.

Integrated Fitness bucks the trend of larger franchise gyms by not requiring memberships; everything is instructor led, whether it is one-on-one training or in-group classes.

Though relatively new, Integrated Fitness' popularity is on the rise. According to Arnold, during Integrated Fitness's first year, in 2010, he booked 20 to 30 client hours per week. Today, Integrated Fitness has seven instructors running 110 total client hours each week.

Part of the success of Integrated Fitness comes from its strict, one-on-one sessions and classes that challenge clients to change their habits and concentrate on their body's health. Some group programs include strength training (body building and power lifting), Zumba, kick boxing, boot camp, all at drop-in rates so clients experience a varied workout.

Integrated Fitness also offers individual nutrition counseling and a nutrition class as part of their Weight Loss Challenge program.

The popular Weight Loss Challenge classes, which are designed for beginners as well as for those preparing for fitness competitions, has helped clients lose a collective 4,000 lbs since Integrated Fitness started the program.

Integrated Fitness has also won four different team awards from fitness competitions in powerlifting and bodybuilding.

Because Arnold is an advocate for natural solutions to healthier living, Integrated Fitness recently partnered with the Green Alliance. The Green Alliance works to increase the profits of businesses that have the least impact on the environment and encourage more sustainable practices. And the Green Alliance strives to educate the public about the goods and services they use in their community, making sustainable choices whenever possible.

As part of the Green Alliance, Integrated Fitness inspires their clients maintain a natural, healthy lifestyle. Offering nutrition information to help change wellness habits for an overall more sustainable lifestyle, Integrated Fitness addresses the concerns of whole body health.

“Of course we work hard to help clients stay healthy,” Arnold says. Its one of the reasons he believes drawing attention to mental health issues is important.

The Day of Fitness will start at 9am on May 9th

“We’ve been wanting a great opportunity for the community to come out and get involved,” Arnold said.
