With the snow finally melting, the emergence of grass and warm weather of spring is highly anticipated. Another great emergence this spring is the addition of new programs by the Gundalow Company. This year, the Gundalow Company is debuting their River Kids Day Camp, allowing for even more summer adventures on the gundalow. The first campers at this new program will spend their mornings on the water doing interactive activities on navigation, environmental science and history. Their afternoons will be spent doing shore based explorations. The Day Camp ($240 per child) will run from 9 AM to 3 PM and is the perfect way to educate kids on the importance of our great Seacoast, all while being outside in the fun summer sun!

If your child is ready to take the reigns of the gundalow, they can participate in Crew for a Day, which runs on Wednesdays 10 AM to 2 PM on July 1, 15, 29, and August 12 ($30 per day). Children will be able to play leader and work as part of a team through dockside activities with hands-on sailing.

Since their founding in 2002, the Gundalow Company has made its main mission to connect residents of the Seacoast and beyond with this historic icon of river commerce, while instilling a sense of environmental stewardship for the Piscataqua region's cherished waterways. In 2011, the Gundalow Company built their floating classroom christened the Piscataqua. Over 2,000 students, scouts, and campers have enjoyed a unique educational experience in 2014 whilst sailing the Seacoast's tidal waters on a traditional wooden vessel. Their activities included setting the sail, steering the vessel, learning to navigate, towing for plankton, exploring human impact and analyzing water quality. Children learn about the 250 years gundalows have sailed upon the waters of the Piscataqua Region and its connection to the region's seaport and primary market. Their educational programs span from all levels of difficulty and ages, and the Gundalow team is ready to customize a trip to incorporate any requested topics.

On April 25, Gundalow will be holding their biggest fundraiser to date - Gundalow Gatherings. For one night, experience delightful foods and drinks while engaging in maritime conversation. Choose one of nine different dinner locations in the area with different maritime topics to discuss. All the proceeds support this non-profit's 2015 educational programs, such as River Kids Day Camp and Crew for a Day, which have supported the education of the Seacoast's maritime history through their many events.
