Summer is beginning to peak out from behind the clouds and the days are getting warmer. For many people this means a trip to the beach, so what better way to enjoy the weather than by visiting the Great Bay!

Many people use what the Bay has to offer, whether aesthetically or for recreational purposes. However, few people realize the important, and necessary, role it plays in the community as well as to the species that live there. This is where Green Alliance business partner, the Great Bay Stewards are stepping in.

The Bay needs support from individuals, local businesses, and non-profits to keep up with its overall health. It is for this reason that Great Bay Stewards are reaching out and educating the public. Their mission is to protect and preserve the vitality of the Great Bay estuarine systems through education, land protection, research and care of the Great Bay.

In order to gain even more support the Stewards are holding an educational fundraising dinner at The Country View Restaurant on May 17th. To learn more about this event visit the Green Alliance Events Calendar.

Currently, the Stewards are raffling off a 2014 Wilderness Systems Kayak Pungo 120 donated by Eastern Mountain Sports. Each raffle ticket is $5, or $20 for five tickets. More information about this raffle can be found on the Great Bay Stewards website, by clicking here.

Throughout the summer the Great Bay Stewards have events and programs for kids entering 1st through 6th grade at their Discovery Center. These Summer Bayventures are great day long programs that allow the children to have fun with the Bay species such as eelgrass and oysters, while learning about the jobs they hold in the Bay. To find out more or register for the programs visit the Great Bay Stewards Summer Programs page. Become a Great Bay Steward and receive discounts on Summer Programs!

Join the Great Bay Stewards to preserve, protect, and provide education about the Great Bay. As an added bonus, join the Green Alliance and save 10 percent on Great Bay Steward memberships!
