Blog : Green Alliance seeks a Freelance Sustainability Certifier!
Are you well versed in sustainability and looking for an opportunity to put it to work and get hands on experience? Are you an outgoing, mature person who likes to talk to and meet other people? Do you have a way with words? Are you a graduate student, or recently graduated?
If this sounds like you, then the Green Alliance has the perfect freelance opportunity!
The Green Alliance strives to increase the profits of businesses that have the least impact on the environment and to encourage more sustainable business practices through “Business-to-Business” mentoring and strength in partnership. We also want to educate and influence the public to consider the goods and services they use in their own communities and to encourage more sustainable choices.
One of the most important aspects of the Green Alliance is the certification process for its Business Partners. Only certified green businesses that meet the Green Alliance's strict criteria can become a Business Partner. The Green Alliance offers each Business Partner an evaluation to determine their Green Level (Bud, Sprout, Blossom). As a Sustainability Evaluator, your job will be to meet with a Business Partner representative in person and administer a 20 Question Evaluation to determine their Green Level. Additionally the GA certification process encompasses a Report Card which takes the results of the Evaluation and produces a green score for that business. Finally the 3rd part of GA certification is the Green Story – a one page, well-written, journalistic-style synopsis of the company’s history, values and what makes them green.
This is a freelance position but includes specific and focused training on our certification tools. The Sustainability Evaluator will work from home or the GA office, except when meeting with a Business Representative, and must keep their own schedule. Pay is $50 per completed evaluation. We are looking for an Evaluator that has impeccable people skills, great writing, efficiency and follow-thru; the perfect candidate will be willing to conduct and complete 3 certifications for each month of June, July and August. If the position is a good fit the freelance certifications could continue into the fall and winter. Green Alliance Sustainability Certifier will look amazing on your resume!
