Blog : Great Works Chiropractic Celebrates 3 Years of Community with Spring Extravaganza

If you've ever had a seething migraine, back pain so bad that it sidelined you for a day, or three, or even if you've just felt a little off, its cause may be from a long-ago accident or even birth trauma.

Many people might not realize that their everyday aches and pains often stem from stressors they encountered years prior. The lasting, non-immediate, symptoms could take years to surface and, when they do, treating them with pills may provide relief, but not necessarily fix the problem.

According to Dr. Seth LaFlamme, of Great Works Chiropractic in South Berwick, many health problems that occur in a lifetime can be traced back to any number of traumas that appear mild at first, but pose serious problems later in life, such as sports injuries, car accidents, falls or a difficult birth. It's for this reason Dr. Seth and his wife, and practice partner, Dr. Briana Duga, have taken advanced training to also care for children, even babies, to ensure their health is on the right track.

In celebration of their work, and their patients’ successes, Dr. Seth and Dr. Bri (they prefer first names with patients) will host a family event for their patients, as well as their patient's families and guests, on May 3 at Doodlebugz Studio in Rollinsford, New Hampshire. The event will have a variety of activities for all ages including pottery painting, contests, giveaways and food. The day will celebrate not only the success of Dr. Seth's practice, which expanded its physical space last year, but also the people that support him.

“We haven’t done it alone; the community helped us get there," said Dr. Seth. "It’s really saying, ‘thanks’ to the community for helping us reach a point where we can grow."

Family is the best way to describe the community that Great Works Chiropractic has grown and nurtured. They service whole families, from the eldest member to the newest, each receiving personalized treatment. As parents of three, both Dr. Seth and Dr. Bri know it's important for a child to receive chiropractic care as much as an adult. Newborns can suffer from misalignment and unintended muscle strains during delivery, especially if any interventions such as induced labor, epidural or any form of extraction (vacuum, manual, forceps) were utilized.

"Even infants born via caesarian section should come in for evaluations, as these newborns miss the usual cranial molding process. And it's easier to treat problems as early as possible," said Dr. Seth. "It's particularly encouraging that I'm seeing more parents bring their kids in to see me prior to seeking conventional medical care."

After graduating valedictorian of his class from Life University in 2010, Dr. Seth moved home to Maine with Dr. Bri, who graduated cum laude, to start their practice. For Dr. Seth chiropractic care is not about simply treating symptoms, in fact that's not what he does, it's about digging a little deeper to find out why the body is producing symptoms and dealing with that problem directly. That means educating individuals on living a healthy life externally as well as internally.

Great Works Chiropractic provides reasonable alternatives to conventional care and medications. Both doctors also educate patients about the effects their daily choices - positive and negative - have on themselves and others. Bringing sustainability down to the individual level, and spreading that awareness, creates a healthier planet for all. Dr. Seth's belief that a healthier world starts with a healthy population is why he joined the Green Alliance as a Business Partner. The Green Alliance is an organization that connects green-minded consumers with businesses that work to lessen their impact on the environment.

"To me, the more that we walk the walk, the more that we show people what sustainable living looks like and how it can be achieved, the stronger our community will be," Dr. Seth said. "The town has received us well — really the whole area has — so we’re grateful for that."
