PRIMARY PURPOSE AND FUNCTIONS

The Green Alliance Community Manager supports all tiers of the company with a special emphasis on Business Partner (BP) story-telling, sales, satisfaction, and service. The CM will work alongside the Director to provide support in a multitude of ways. The sales aspect of this position is to generate leads, close business partnerships, and on-board new businesses by familiarizing them with Green Alliance policies and practices and then helping to execute all the GA services. The CM is also in charge of the GA consumer membership program, both managing our individual memberships and working with the Director to bring in new members.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

♦ Help to make sure existing BPs renew by executing all aspects of the GA program

♦ Business development/revenue generation by helping to sign up new BPs – goal of 1new BP per month

♦ Manage, maintain and grow the GA consumer membership program

♦ Service BPs , broker partnerships and form relationships in the business community with new, potential BPs

♦ Manage relationships with community groups/non-profits

♦ Attend events for the GA (occasional evening hours required)

♦ Develop and execute marketing/brand development and strategy,

♦ Design and implement new revenue sources

♦ Conduct sustainability certifications

♦ Write media-ready stories

 

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL

♦ Excellent communicator/public speaker

♦ Strong sales experience and ability to communicate the GA message in a myriad of ways

♦ Very organized and acute attention to detail

♦ Writing experience, and understanding of brand messaging principles

♦ Social Media know-how

♦ Sustainability knowledge and experience

♦ Business experience and knowledge

♦ Deep understanding of technology and how to best use it to grow GA

GOALS AND OBJECTIVES

♦ Help retain a minimum of 90% of current Business Partners

♦ To bring in a minimum of 1 new Business Partner each month

♦ Help GA go from 3,500 consumer members to 4,000 by end of 2014

ADDITIONAL SKILLS FOR CONSIDERATION

- Graphic design

- Journalism style writing

- Web development, general technology skills and experience with email campaigns, mobile apps and customer data base programs

 

COMPENSATION

3 days per week, $10 per hour, position comes with free yoga membership, paid holidays. The Community Manager position also encapsulates these other tasks and opportunities: As CM you will be responsible for managing relationships with the Green Alliance's ever expanding consumer and business membership. We are looking for a dynamic, ambitious individual who both works well independently and thrives in a team environment. The ideal candidate will also understand the realities of working for a growing small business powered by a little budget and a whole lot of entrepreneurial spirit. Strong writing abilities, computer skills, and customer service experience are a must. The perfect candidate will also be well organized and have a knack for improving the efficiency of business operations. A passion for the environment and social responsibility are a must. This is not a “punch-the-clock” position; the ideal candidate will be self-motivated to go the extra mile.

While the Green Alliance's mission and work are pretty unique, we do prefer candidates with experience suited to the following duties:

• Process new membership/renewal orders online, via phone, and in person - daily
• Update customer info in Salesforce, MailChimp, PayPal and Heartland
• Create engaging marketing and email campaigns to increase renewal rates, and convert non-members to members
• Promote upcoming Green Alliance events
• Independently respond to inquiries from customers and website visitors
• Develop new methods for improving member retention
• Write content highlighting the achievements of local green businesses
• Regularly update Green Alliance website
• Identify and engage prospective business partners in the Green Alliance
• Actively participate in planning the future of our organization
