GREENLAND -- Imagine tearing down I-95 with the wind in your hair and the sun beaming down overhead. Beneath you the purr of your dream car plays a nice complement to the blaring radio. Sound like a fantasy to you? Greenland's Mirror Image Automotive has helped Frank Day make his a reality.

Green Alliance business partner Mirror Image is well known for combining collision repair and mechanical maintenance under one customer-friendly roof. Previous customers have likened owner Jason Battistelli to a lawyer that goes to bat for customers – fending off the knuckleballs thrown by big insurance companies.

Jason learned the tricks of the trade while working at his father’s automotive shop in Goffstown. When the family shop was sold in 2000, Jason went on to pursue a degree in computer engineering. Six years later, he decided it was time to refocus on his passion. Battistelli opened a small shop in Goffstown, relocating shortly thereafter to Greenland.

However, few people realize that Battistelli’s passion for the automotive industry transcends the realm of maintenance and repairs. The dedicated crew at Mirror Image also works on specialized car kits – most recently Frank Day’s replica of a 1965 Shelby Cobra.

Over the course of seven months, Battistelli and colleague Nolan White spent a total of 220 painstaking hours working on the car’s body and perfecting the paint – and perfecting is no exaggeration. The custom color Day dreamt up was a combination of amber, copper, metallic, and heavy pearl paint with a glass clear coat finish. On the hood a token Mach 1 stripe adds a bit of contrast to an already attention-grabbing display. This calculated combination of colors could not have been a better fit for the Cobra. And if you are watching your dream car built from the ground up, why not tailor-fit every aspect of it?

Even after driving off the lot, Frank Day is not done making improvements to his beautiful new toy.

When asked about Mr. Day, Krysti Battistelli of Mirror Image responded, “His wife said she couldn’t pull him away from it.”

He may still be out in the garage tinkering here and there. Having realized a life-long dream, it may be a few more weeks before he leaves its side. For Mirror Image, nothing could be more rewarding than seeing the success of the project and the excitement it brought to Frank Day.
