Blog : Greenovations Brings 10-minute Architect Clinic to the Seacoast
Greenovations Eco Building Supply will be joining forces
with associated local Seacoast businesses for “10-Minute Architect,” a free and open public clinic, taking place at the home of Greenovations, 470 US Route 1 in York, Maine, on Wednesday, July 11th from 4:30pm to 6:30pm.
Originally started by the Portland Society of Architects, “10-minute Architect” events have been successfully taking place in Portland, Maine for the past eight years. “We want encourage people to understand the value of smart building and the positive impact it can have on the community, the world at large and themselves”, explains organizer and host, Greenovations owner Christopher Ring.
“These 10-Minute Architect Clinics allow attendees a twenty-minute window of one on one time to sit and discuss various issues related to building and design, from everything to basic layouts, to project budget feasibility, permitting issues, construction techniques and more,” comments Christopher Ring. “And the beauty of these workshops is its useful advice for home and business owners alike; and its advice coming from the professionals!”
Ring was impressed with the effectiveness of these learning sessions and wanted to bring the concept to the Seacoast. He’d seen it done elsewhere with great success and has always believed that the knowledge building professionals hold should be shared and discussed.
“This has been done before in other cities with great success and I am hoping to establish an annual event that would grow to require a larger space to host it”, adds Ring.
The Clinic will bring together a bevy of green minded professionals, all under one roof. In addition to sharing expertise in building, all of the experts share a passion for sustainability. Featured volunteer presenters will be Paul Fowler, Principal at Adapt Design; Shannon Alther, AIA and Principal at TMS Architects; Peter Robbie, founder of EcoSound Builders; Christopher Redmond, founder and designer at Little Green Homes; Marc Hovde, owner of Hovde Construction; and heating and air conditioning specialist Jon Sherril from Key HVAC.
In addition to host business Greenovations, Adapt Design, TMS Architects, EcoSound Builders and Little Green Homes, are all members of the local green business union known as the Green Alliance. Green Alliance businesses are certified green and the organization offers exclusive discounts at its green partnering businesses to Green Card holders or consumer members of the GA.
“10 Minute Architect” is free and open to the public. Pre-registration is appreciated but walk-ins are also welcome.
