Blog : RAM Printing continues innovation with short print runs and digital packaging
RAM Printing has been using sustainable practices since 1989, long before the current green trend. But resting on laurels simply isn't RAM's style. RAM has held its own on the cutting edge of sustainability through tireless work and constant innovation to improve efficiency and reduce the company's already-low energy use and waste production. At the same time, RAM manages to continually increase the variety, convenience, and affordability of their products.
RAM's newest offerings include short print runs with no minimum order, as well as digitally printed packaging, including personalized and promotional packaging. “In a nut shell, we're now providing additional solutions for both short and long printing runs and packaging,” says account representative John Sobczak. “Short runs and digital packaging are new options in the printing industry, and not many companies are offering them.”
As always, RAM combines their commitment to green business with their passion for customer service. “Sustainability is always our top priority,” says Sobczak, “but that's not the only reason we've added these services. Shorter printing runs and personalized packaging save time and energy, but they also allow us to provide the customer with more choice, more printing solutions, and lower cost.”
Naturally, RAM's new products are fully FSC-certified. As an active member of both the Rainforest Alliance and the Forest Stewardship Council, RAM is diligent about ensuring that all of their materials are produced responsibly with as little impact on forests as possible. RAM gets most of their paper from local producers like Mohawk and Monadnock Papers to support local business, and to save energy and reduce emissions from shipping. All of RAM's paper is FSC-certified, and RAM eschews toxic products like laminates and oil-based inks. “RAM continues to be the leader in FSC printing in the granite state!” says Sobczak.
RAM is also dedicated to educating about sustainability; both their website and “waiting” phone message clearly and concisely explain RAM's sustainable products and practices. Transparency is a trademark of RAM, which offers full tours of the printing facility to display their cutting-edge, energy-saving equipment, as well as features like their water-based, recycled printing plates. Anxious to help others follow in their green footsteps, RAM's website even invites visitors to contact their “Go Green Specialist” Kathi Dunn for help with achieving their personal sustainability goals.
It's no wonder that RAM Printing has partnered with the Green Alliance, a green business union and consumer's co-op committed to educating the community about sustainability, and enabling both businesses and consumers to align their practices with their values. Both RAM printing and the Green Alliance know that innovation, education, and transparency are integral components of the work toward greener communities.
Never losing focus on their customers' needs, even as they work toward ever-greener business practices, RAM has been honored with the NH Business Review's Best of Business “BOB” Award every year this prestigious award has been given. “We're really proud to say that we've won the B.O.B award for the last four years—that's big news!” says Sobczak, demonstrating RAM's indefatigable energy. RAM never settles for less than their best, which is why the business has stayed at the front lines of sustainability since their inception over twenty years ago. Sobczak sums it up the best, saying “There's always something new at RAM!”
