Blog : Zev Yoga Studio gives its water a ‘Grander’ workout

Being a seasoned yoga instructor, Jonas “Zev” Amberger considers it part of his duty to help students find and maintain the delicate balance between the physical, the mental, and the spiritual. Now he’ll have help in his effort from an unlikely place: his water cooler.

With the help of Michael Mark of Water Revitalization Ltd, who also happens to be one of Zev’s Students, Amberger recently installed a custom, state-of-the-art water purification system in his Market Square studio.

According to Michael, the device at Zev Yoga is really a two-part system: “The first thing that happens is a nano-filtration device incorporating activated carbon removes bacteria, viruses, chlorine, and other organics from the water,” says Michael. “And that part of it, as is the case in the studio, can be done straight out of any tap or faucet. But what makes this unique from other purification systems is the second step, where the resonating ‘Grander’ Energy Board revitalizes the water in the dispenser – improving its internal structure and ‘information properties’ to make it more holistically nourishing."

Michael describes these "information properties" as a sort of historical record, where, according to him, "Grander Technology affords water the opportunity to write a very beneficial history for itself, negating the lingering effects of pollution and other environmental stresses it may have experienced.”

While the filtration device treats the water separately out of the back of the studio -- water that is coming straight out of the faucet, really -- the actual Grander board is set up inside the studio itself, where a water tank dispenses the revitalized water to the parched students.

The brain child of award-winning Austrian naturalist Johann Grander, the Grander board is one of many water treatment products – along with a litany of filtration devices – distributed by Michael through Water Revitalization. Alternate configurations of the Grander Technology units are also available for direct connection to piping systems, or immersion in tanks, ponds, and pools. Because the Grander devices contain only steel, copper, and water, they are 100% recyclable, making them true “cradle-to-cradle” products.

For this and many other reasons, installing the system was a no-brainer for Zev. A long-time student of ayurvedic medicine, a holistic study with roots in ancient India, Amberger has always maintained that we are one with our surroundings. In the same way, the Grander system is designed to provide its treatment benefits through positively engaging its own “living” environment, as a result improving our well-being as water consumers.

“When you think about it, we’re made up of 60 -80% water, which means the water we take in really does have an effect on us, just as our energy can have an effect on the water” says Amberger. “So I felt a yoga studio was the perfect arena for the [Grander] system, in that we’re always trying to foster a positive energy ourselves.”

The main purpose of this particular system, according to Michael, is to renew water quality on all levels, biologically, chemically, and physically. Michael, who maintains a regular Wordpress blog online about his company, plans on giving a series of talks to the yoga studio about the system in the coming weeks and months.

Amberger initially revisited ideas for bettering his students’ water while being interviewed by the Green Alliance, a local green union that represents over 80 local businesses as well as maintaining a 1000-person strong discount co-op. Both Zev Yoga and Water Revitiliation are Green Alliance Business Partners, a fact which helped make this particular partnership even more immediate and effective.

Only weeks after the system was installed, it’s safe to say there’s already been quite the buzz around the water cooler. “It’s really fun to watch people engage with the water,” says Amberger. “It’s as if there’s an energy created just by wanting to drink it. It’s like, ‘ok, let’s go drink the super water!’ What it’s helping do is bring drinking water to a new level of appreciation and playfulness.”
