On October 12, Clay Hill Farm held the 1st annual Fall Eco-fest from 11-3 on a quintessential New England fall day. The air was crisp and leaves were falling as Rian and I took our posts at the Green Alliance table in between GA business partners ReVision Energy and Acorn Organic Salon. This day-long event gave local sustainable businesses a chance to showcase some of their work and increase their public awareness.

There was an awesome turnout as people from all over New England filtered into the event throughout the day to enjoy live music, freshly prepared food and talk with sustainable businesses. A scavenger hunt was prepared for the ever increasing number of excited kids who had come to learn all about sustainability, or at least were just tagging along with mom and dad. The hunt brought its participants around to many of the companies’ tables in search of flyers, goodies and signatures for correctly answering a trivia question about sustainability. This was a great community event and it showed that there is a growing excitement and passion for sustainable business in our area. Seeing so many children there gave me hope that this up and coming generation will make sustainability one of their top priorities. Hopefully the great showing of this 1st ever Eco-fest at Clay Hill Farm will encourage other Eco-festivals throughout the year.
