Get your own organic GA tee shirt!

By Jim Cavan | Jun 16, 2009 | in

The GA debuted its first line of organic tee-shirts this last Saturday at the Green Expo in Kittery. The shirts, which come in both men's and women's styles as well as tight-fitting tank top, feature the GA logo splayed across brown and green backgrounds and were a huge hit. Going forward, the GA is going to explore ways to offer the shirts on the website. Until then, be sure to stop by the new GA office at 9 Walker Street in Kittery and pick one up! Tee shirts are only $15 and make for a great gift.

The tee-shirts are provided by Business Partner The Green Tee, a Greenland-based full service, sustainable custom apparel company that sells organic cotton garments and products from recycled materials. When customizing your apparel they only print with PVC and Phthalate free inks and use only natural cleaning agents, in the process making every effort to reduce, reuse, and recycle. Green Tee is committed to operate in a manner that is the most beneficial to the environment.

Kittery’s Haley Art Gallery played host to the first ever Green Alliance “Green Expo” this past weekend with over twenty local sustainable vendors and non-profits in an outdoor opportunity for residents to meet the environmental trailblazers up close and personal. The event was organized by the Green Alliance, a local green business union that certifies and promotes sustainable entrepreneurs in the area. The Expo had booths showcasing everything from energy-efficient solar panels to fair-trade clothing and accessories to organic tree-care interspersed with non-profits such as the Sierra Club, Cool Communities and Seacoast Buy Local. The event offered visitors an intimate afternoon with Seacoast-based green and sustainable businesses and advocacy organizations working to raise awareness around environmental issues.

Designing Green with Pixels & Pulp

By Jim Cavan | Jun 3, 2009 | in

This past October, Pixels & Pulp design studio joined the Green Alliance {GA} to meet like-minded, local business owners who are passionate about green business practices, sustainability issues and strengthening our local economy. Their enthusiasm to help the GA grow and spread its message was clear in their very first meeting with Project Director Sarah Brown. Since that first meeting, Pixels & Pulp has helped define the GA brand by clarifying its messaging, updating selected print collateral, and redesigning the newly launched website, www.greenalliance.biz.

The redesign of the GA website was a huge undertaking. Yet with careful planning, close collaboration and ongoing communication, the transition was quite seamless. The main goals of the new site are: {1} to make it easy for consumers to join the GA and understand all of the benefits and discounts they receive using their Green Card, {2} showcase in more depth its green business partners, and {3} present all the GA has to offer―from current news and events to its Sustainability Toolkit―in a clear, engaging and visually beautiful way.
